Information trouvée : U. Alexis Johnson (1908- ) was a longtime member of the U.S. Foreign Service and served in a number of embassies around the world. A specialist in Asian affairs, he was attached to the embassy in Tokyo, 1935-1938; consul general to Japan, 1947-1949; and ambassador to Japan, 1966-1969. He served on several international commissions and in numerous senior positions with the Department of State in Washington, D.C., most significantly as under secretary of state for political affairs beginning in 1969 until his retirement.
