Delia Salter Bacon (February 2, 1811 - September 2, 1859) Delia Bacon was one of the earliest to speculate publicly that the author and William Shakespeare might be two different people. She taught school for some years, unsuccessfully tried to start her own school, published a book, Tales of the Puritans, and a play, The Bride of Fort Edward, and had some success as a paid lecturer. She died in Connecticut in 1859.
