Information trouvée : Le Geological Survey été créé en 1925 par le British Overseas Management Authority (BOMA) sous le nom de Geological Survey Department (GSD). Depuis sa création, cette collectivité a connu de nombreux changements d'organisation sous différents ministères successifs dont Ministry of Mines and Commerce (1935 à 1949), Ministry of Commerce and Industry (1960 à 1961), Ministry of Industries, Mineral Resources and Power (1964 à 1966), Ministry of Water, Power and Mineral Resources (1978 à1981), Ministry of Minerals (1981 à 1984), Ministry of Energy and Minerals (1986 à 1990), Ministry of Water, Energy and Minerals (1991 à 1996) et Ministry of Energy and Minerals (1996-2006). En octobre 2005, il devient une Agence nationale sous le nom de Geological Survey of Tanzania (GST).
