Originaire de Paris, graveur, lithographe , imprimeur établi à la Jamaique à Kingston où vers 1840 il ouvre une firme photographique, publiant des lithographies à partir de ses propres daguerréotypes. Cette derniere activité sera poursuivie par ses héritiers jusqu'en 1920
