Note publique d'information : New fluorinated polymeric materials were synthesized whose hydrophobic properties
were examined. Interpenetrating Polymer Networks (IPNs) based on a fluorinated polyacrylate
network (AcRf6) and PDMS were formed. Kinetics followed by FTIR allow to correlate
the IPN formation with the degree of interpenetration which was estimated by turbidity,
DSC, DMTA and AFM. Mechanical properties of those IPNs are improved by introducing
PMMA as a AcRf6-MMA co-network or by forming AcRf6/cellulose acetobutyrate (CAB) IPNs.
which are homogeneous according to the DMTA measurements. Contact angle measurements
with water show that AcRf6/PDMS IPNs are more hydrophobic than the respective single
networks. Moreover hydrophobicity is increased by a surface treatment with ethanol.
Fluorinated moieties concentration is higher at the surface than in the bulk as shown
by AFM and XPS.
