l'auteur montre que le processus d'institutionnalisation de l'Islam en France n'est
ni linéaire ni uniforme à travers le temps et l'espace. Il n'est pas uniquement fonction
de taux de présence ou du degré d'intégration culturelle et sociale des musulmans
en France, mais varie selon le statut de l'Islam et des Musulmans dans la République.
Les obstacles à la reconstitution d'une Histoire des institutions musulmanes dans
l'ancienne métropole coloniale bordelaise dessinent les contours d'une "idéologie
républicaine de l'Islam", séculaire, permettant de mieux appréhender les enjeux actuels
de l'implantation du culte musulman. L'étude détaillée de la formation du paysage
associatif musulman bordelais jusqu'ici méconnu, ainsi que de ses rapports avec son
environnement politique et économique immédiat, à travers la mise en place d'un dispositif
légal d'abattage pour l'Aïd el Kebir, illustre les incidences concrètes sur la structuration

Note publique d'information : By broadening the time scope and reducing the space scope of its investigation, the
author shows that in France, the process of institutionalisation of Islam is neither
linear nor uniform in time and space. It does not only depend on the proportion of
Muslims in France or on their level of cultural and social integration. It also varies
according to the status of Islam and Muslims in the Republic. The difficulties met
when reconstructing a history of Muslim institutions in Bordeaux, a metropolis that
built its wealth on colonialism, reveal the existence of a deep-rooted "republican
ideology of Islam". This enables us to understand better what is at stake when addressing
the issue of the establishing of Islam. The forming of the Muslim associations of
Bordeaux was until now poorly known, as well as their relations with their political
and economical environment. Through the setting up of a legal slaughtering system
for the Aïd el Kebir, the detailed study of these associations illustrates the concrete
effects of the national construction of the Muslim fact on the structuring of the
Islamic community in Bordeaux.
