Note publique d'information : Le nerf trijumeau est impliqué dans la régulation des fonctions manducatrices. Parmi
ces fonctions, l'équilibre crânio-cervical est bien décrit. L'hypothèse d'un lien
bidirectionnel entre le système occlusal et postural médié par le système trigéminal
peut-être formulée. La régulation posturale implique l'intégration d'afférences multi-sensorielles
comportant les afférences trigéminales. Cette revue a pour objectif d'évaluer l'association
entre l'occlusion, la posture et la neurophysiologie trigéminale en incluant les patients
atteints de dysfonctionnements temporo-mandibulaires. La recherche en neurophysiopathologie
trigéminale pourrait concourir à une redéfinition de la posture, de l'occlusion et
du principe de position mandibulaire thérapeutique, notamment dans le cadre du traitement
des dysfonctionnements temporo-mandibulaires.
Note publique d'information : The trigeminal nerve is involved in the regulation of manducatory functions. Among
these functions, cranio-cervical balance is well described. The hypothesis of a bidirectional
link between the occlusal and postural systems mediated by the trigeminal system can
be formulated. Postural regulation involves the integration of multi-sensory afferents
including trigeminal afferents. The purpose of this review is to evaluate the association
between occlusion, posture, and trigeminal neurophysiology by including patients with
temporomandibular dysfunction. Research in trigeminal neurophysiology could contribute
to a redefinition of posture, occlusion, and the principle of therapeutic mandibular
position, particularly in the treatment of temporomandibular dysfunction.
