Note publique d'information : Ce mémoire porte sur l’étude et la conservation-restauration d’une chaise longue en
bambou et rotin, conservée au musée de la Vannerie de Cadenet (Vaucluse). Acquise
par le musée en 1990, très peu de documentation parait reliée à l’objet. L’étude de
son contexte historique comme de sa réalisation technique semble nous mener sur les
pistes d’une production Vietnamienne dans le contexte colonial de l’Indochine au début
du XXe siècle. Pour ce sujet d’étude inédit, le protocole technico-scientifique a
permis d’établir un constat de la pratique de la restauration du mobilier canné afin
de développer un matériau de réintégration spécifique dédié aux nombreuses zones de
tortillages lacunaires. Les interventions de restauration aux typologies variées,
ont d’abord restitué une cohésion structurelle puis visuelle à l’ensemble de l’objet.
Elles lui permettent aujourd’hui de continuer à conter son histoire et de témoigner
d’un savoir-faire si particulier aux métiers de la rotinerie et de la vannerie.
Note publique d'information : This master thesis focuses on the study and conservation-restoration of a bamboo and
rattan lounge chair at the Musée de la Vannerie in Cadenet (France, Vaucluse). Acquired
by the museum in 1990, almost no documentation was related to the object. The study
of both its historical context and its technical realization seems to lead us on the
tracks of a Vietnamese production at the time of the colonial context of Indochina
at the beginning of the 20th century. For this new study topic, the technical-scientific
protocol first allowed to establish an observation of the practice of the restoration
of canned furniture to then develop a reintegration material specific to the many
areas of lacunary « tortillage ». The restoration interventions with multiple typologies,
have first restored a structural and then visual cohesion to the whole object. Today,
they allow him to continue to tell his story and to testify to a craftsmanship so
particular to the trades of rotineria and basketry.
